The speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Onofiok Luke, has said that even though recent political events in the state may have created enmity between him and the former senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, he could not forget what they both shared in the past.
The speaker said this in a birthday message to senator Akpabio on Sunday, December 9, 2018.
However, Luke had on December 3, before Senator Akpabio’s kinsmen, accused the former governor of being after his life, saying that Akpabio should be held responsible if anything happened to him.
“My dear fathers, I want to once again alert all of you that Senator Godswill Akpabio is after my life.
“If any should happen to me today (God forbid!), hold him responsible, Luke had said.
This came after the sack of five members of the state house of assembly for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leading to the creation of a faction.
But in a birthday message for Akpabio published on the speaker’s facebook timeline, he said;
Your Excellency, as you add another year, I return glory to God Almighty for His mercies and faithfulness upon your life.
Turn of events today might be putting us poles apart politically, it cannot make us forget the past and what we have both shared. For 16 years, today has always been special and this year will not be an exception.
As you celebrate today I pray God to shower His blessings upon you and give you deep insight, vision and revelation into His plans for your life and His people in our dear State.
