Two graduates of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Wednesday, perished in an auto crash while on their way for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), 2021 Batch B, Stream 2 deployment.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Ademola Adesoji told DAILY POST that the fatal accident occurred on the Lokoja-Abuja highway and it involved four UNIOSUN undergraduates who were travelling to Kaduna and Kano for their NYSC.

Adesoji said, “The four undergraduates, three males and one female chartered a vehicle from Osogbo and bound for Kaduna. The three males amongst them were Kaduna bound and the female was heading to Kano.

“When the school got the information, one of the survivors was contacted and we advised that he should quickly report the incident to the nearest police station and also to get to a hospital for medical check-up.

“Both survivors were rushed to the hospital and the institution notified the NYSC Headquarter in Abuja of the development.

“The NYSC too responded by sending some officials to visit them in the hospital. The NYSC with the help of the hospital aided the survivors, a male and female to recover quickly.”

The incident, the institution’s spokesperson stated, claimed the lives of two of the graduates while Abdulrahaman Monsuru Omotunde (College of Management and Social Sciences) and Adeniyi Kabirat Taiwo, both of the survivors are hale and hearty.

He noted that the two who died were students of the main campus, Osogbo.

Describing the accident as unfortunate, he expressed  condolence of the school management to the deceased families, praying God to console the management and staff of UNIOSUN, students and friends of the deceased.
