Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala broke down on stage after she received her third CAF Women’s Player of the Year, revealing many dismissed her after she quit English club Arsenal to take up the challenge in China.
“It has been an emotional journey (for me), and this is the best moment in my career because when I quit Arsenal to China, a lot of people said my career is gone.
“But I told myself I can do this and here I am today.
“Don’t let anyone talk you down, follow our heart.”
She led her club to win the Chinese league and finished as top scorer.
Oshoala first won this prestigious award in 2014, before she repeated the feat in 2016.
