Former Lagos State Governor, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has won the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary.
Tinubu defeated 13 other contenders to emerge the flag bearer of the party at the Special National Convention of the party in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Asiwaju of Lagos garnered 1,271 votes, the former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo secured 316 and 235 votes respectively.
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan polled 152 votes, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello- 47 votes, Dave Umahi — 38, Ben Ayade — 37, Ahmed Sani — 4, Onu — 1, Tunde Bakare — 0, while Rochas Okorocha scored zero.

During the manifestoes session, seven aspirants stepped down for Tinubu while two stepped down for Osinbajo.
“This is to certify that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having scored the highest number of votes cast, is hereby declared the winner,” said Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State who returned Tinubu as the elected candidate.
“In line with the provisions of the constitution of our great party and by the power conferred on me as the Returning Officer of this special convention, I, Atiku Bagudu, do hereby declare Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate of our party in the 2023 presidential election.”
About 2,322 delegates from across the country had stormed Eagles Square, Abuja, to elect the standard bearer of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Among the aspirants who procured the N100 million nomination forms, 23 were successfully screened to participate in the primary.
Though 22 aspirants showed up at the venue and presented their manifestoes, Emeka Nwajiuba, the immediate past Minister of state for Education, boycotted the primary.
With the current development, Tinubu who is also the National Leader of the party, will square up with the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and other party candidates to battle for the top political office on February 25, 2023 general elections.
