More than 30 Senators of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the National Assembly witnessed the defection of Senator Godswill O. Akpabio to the party.
Led by Senator Ahmed Lawan, Majority Leader in the Senate, the Senators arrived at Ikot Ekpene Sports Stadium, Akwa Ibom State in a coaster bus to the warm embrace of Senator Akpabio who defected from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP after 18 years.
Lawan who spoke to a mammoth crowd Wednesday, August 8 said APC has lost many Senators to PDP and African Democratic Congress, ADC, yet there was no uproar as the defection of Senator Akpabio to APC.
He described his defection to the party as the mother of all defections as it has shakened the state and the country as a whole.
The Senator described Akpabio as a nationalist and patriotic leader who believes in one united country.
Lawan lauded Akpabio’s vision in joining the ruling party and put vote those who would vote for APC at the state and national levels and the ‘’ayes’’ had it.
