He also tasked them to uphold professionalism, maintain high operational standards, and support the government’s efforts toward providing sustainable and safe water supply across the state.
In his speech, the State Chairman of BODAN, Elder Eno Ekwere, commended the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his efforts in ensuring that potable water is provided to residents across the state.
As a Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1990, Elder Ekwere noted that BODAN is a professional body of borehole drillers committed to supporting government efforts to ensure that the
best policies, rules, and regulations guiding the drilling business are maintained through sensitization, networking, rural and community mobilization for potable water consumption, capacity building, leadership development, and numerous human resource development programmes.
He stated that the association has voluntarily carried out several rehabilitation and repair works on water facilities across the state and is now seeking stronger partnership with the government to achieve more.
According to him, “As a body, we are ready to jointly revolutionize water resources management and production whenever the government provides opportunities to promote partnership.”
On the forthcoming 2026 United Nations World Water Day scheduled for March 22, on the theme “Water and Gender,” the Chairman said the association would mark the event with a thanksgiving service at Hilltop Church, 110C Abak Road, and invited the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation to join in the celebration.
Earlier, the Director of Water Resources, Mr. Gideon Akpan, covering duties for the office of the Permanent Secretary, had appreciated the BODAN executive members for the visit and reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to work closely with the association to advance sustainable water development and service delivery across Akwa Ibom State.
