The Anambra State Command in Nigeria has rescued four pregnant girls residing at Cool Joint Bar, Nnewi of the state.
The pregnant are a 20-year-old Chisom Okoye, Mgbaneze Isu of Onicha LGA; a 18-year-old Chinecherem Clement, Agbaebo Isu of Onicha LGA; a 21-year-old Blessing Ogbonna, Nkwagu Isu of Onicha LGA, and a 21-year-old Blessing Njoku, Mgbaneze Isu of Onicha LGA all of Ebonyi State.
In a statement, Mohammed Haruna, spokesperson of the state police command, said two suspects have been nabbed: a 32-year-old Abuchi Ani of Ohazora, Ebonyi State, and a 49-year-old Emeka Ikegwuonu of Akabukwu, Nnewi, Anambra State.
The command during an investigation into the recent attempted kidnap of a four-year-old boy uncovered a baby factory in Otolo Nnewi area which was operated as a brothel, he said.
According to Haruna, the command is intensifying efforts to arrest the principal suspect in order to bring her and other accomplices to justice.
Recall that on March 11, the Area Command Headquarters, Nnewi received a report that a four-year-old child of St Joseph’s School, Otolo Nnewi, was returning home from School in the company of his siblings when two men on a motorcycle grabbed the child and zoomed off with him.
However, the child was rescued by some commercial motorcyclists who pursued and eventually arrested the suspects at Akamili Community, Nnewi.
Haruna said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects who were beaten to stupor by an angry mob (one has been confirmed dead), were sent by one Gladys Nworie Ikegwuonu, at still large, operated the baby factory and a brothel where she keeps young girls and gets them impregnated after which she sells the children to her waiting customers.
