Akwa Ibom government plans to establish Aviation Kerosene Tank Farm in Mbo local government area in the state to bolster the petroleum sector of the economy.
Governor Udom Emmanuel announced this Saturday at Methodist Primary School, Enwang, in Mbo during his visit to canvass for votes on his second term bid.
Emmanuel said the farm would boost Mbo economy and related businesses in the area, adding, “That alone will spring up more facilities and development in Mbo because people will be loading from Mbo.”
He told the people that his administration is constructing a coastal road traversing the proposed industrial city to Ibom Deep Seaport, noting, “We have our bidders on the ground. Once the Federal Government gives us the licence, every other thing would be on auto pilot.”
Governor lamented the poor design of Etebi-Enwang Road and the correction of such defects, announcing that modalities are put in place to re-award it to a competent construction firm that would execute and complete the project before end of 2019.
While reteirating that his government has fulfilled the social contract by laying the foundation for development of the area, he urged the people to partner his administration in order to reap the full benefits during his second term.
The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, said the party was happy the present state government has landmark projects to showcase in every local government area, and solicited the support of the people to vote for PDP candidates during the coming elections.
The South South Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Bishop Etim Ante pledged the readiness of Mbo people to return the governor to the Hiltop Mansion in the next political dispensation.
The Director-General of the Divine Mandate Organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga said returning PDP to power at the centre would fast-track work on the Ibom deep Seaport, and implored the people to vote for the party’s presidential candidate to ensure restructuring of the country for the benefit of the South South States.
Speaking for the elders in the area, Chris Abasieyo, a former Commissioner for Information, lauded Governor Emmanuel for accepting to raise the living standard of Mbo people, saying the crowd at the rally was the affirmation of the people’s valid decision to re-elect him for a second term.
Earlier, Ahta Edet Okon Isemin, the Mbo Paramount Ruler, had bestowed royal blessings on Emmanuel when the latter paid homage to members of Mbo Traditional Rulers Council.
