    Electricity Generation Averages 82,266MWh in Q3’17—NBS

    A total average of 82,266 Megawatts per hour, MWh of energy was generated daily by power stations during the third quarter of 2017, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has stated.

    In its quarterly ‘Power Generation’ report released this week, the bureau said in all the power stations, the highest power generated in Q3’17 stood at 93,118MWh on September 1, while the lowest energy generated was 56,486MWh on September 4.

    “The daily energy generation attained a peak of 3,880 megawatts, MW, on September 1, 2017; and the daily energy sent out on same date was 3,825 MW.

    “Meanwhile, the highest daily energy generated per hour attained a peak of 93,118 MWh on September 1, 2017, and the daily energy sent out per hour on same date was 91,801 MWh.

    ”This represents the highest level of energy generated and sent out in the month of September 2017 and in Q3’17,” the report explained.

    The report, however, revealed that the lowest daily energy generation in Q3’17 was attained on September 14, 2017, recording 2,354 MW, while the daily energy sent out on that day was 2,310 MW.

    In the same vein, on September 14, 2017, the lowest daily energy generation per hour was recorded as 56,486 Megawatts per hour; while, 55,444 MWh was the amount sent out.

    The bureau further revealed that in the month of August, an average of 81,525mwh of energy was generated, even as the average power sent out stood at 80,160 Mwh.

    The month’s daily energy generation attained a peak of 3,777 MW on August 29, 2017, and daily energy sent out on the same day was 3,723 MW.

    For the month of July, the report delineated that the average power generated and sent out was 81,710MWh and 80,409MWh, respectively.

    The month’s highest daily energy generated per hour peaked at 90,645MWh on July 20, 2017 and the daily energy sent out per hour on same date was 89,201MWh.
