An NYSC member serving in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State has reportedly been arrested for allegedly hacking a young man to death with a machete.

Facebook user, Godwin George, who narrated the incident on his page, said he saw a large crowd attacking a lady and was later stripped naked on Sunday morning, January 10, around 9.30 a.m. on Abak Road, Uyo.

According to George, the lady identified as Princess Odume Paschaline was seen with bloodstains all over her while she tried to scale over a fence in the house where she had gone for alleged hook-up with the victim.

The lady allegedly used a matchete to attack the young man, killing him instantly after several cuts on his stomach and face, the Facebook user narrated.

Following discovery of the bloodstains, the mob was said to beaten the University Of Nigeria Nsukka graduate to a pulp.

Based on the crime allegedly committed, the Facebook user said she was taken to the state Police Headquarters in Akwa Ibom.

However, the man is yet to be identified.

Straightnews made a telephone call the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko MacDon, on Monday, January 11 to confirm the story.

MacDon said the corps member accepted to committing the act and admitted to have done so in self- defence.

According to him, ”The corps member said she met the man. They were chatting and trying to sort out few things. Later a fight ensued between them. The man brought out matchete to kill her. I collected the matchete and killed him in self-defence.”
