At last, popular Comedienne Ada Jesus whose real name was Mercy Mmesoma Obi, has died, two days after she celebrated her birthday in an Abuja-based hospital.
Aged 23, she suffered cardiac arrest on Tuesday night, April 20 and was rushed to the ICU where some doctors monitored her.
Eventually, Ada lost the battle to the kidney ailment and partial stroke.
Harrison Gwamnishu, who led group of Nigerians that rallied around Ada Jesus and took her to hospital, confirmed her death this afternoon to the BBC tersely: “She is gone,” he said.
Before her demise, she had asked for forgiveness from those she had spoken against in the past, including clergyman, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanemere Odumeje, actress, Rita Edochie, and also some traditional worshipers.
Odumeje’s and Rita Edochie’s initial refusal to forgive her got the attention of well-meaning Nigerians who decided to take care of her medical bills for her to get dialysis.
However, Prophet Odumeje forgave her and donated N1m million for treatment while Edochie also forgave her for alleging that the prophet has been faking miracles.
Her health which was said to have improved, took a different turn last night until she breathed her last.
Born on April 19, 1998, Ada Jesus who hailed from Orlu, Imo State was a graduate of Imo State University.
Prior to becoming a comedienne, she worked as a housekeeper for a retired pilot and was initially a stand-up comedienne, performing at events and shows before she started posting skits on Instagram and Facebook, where she rose to prominence.
