    Nigerian Woman Parodies ‘Federal Offences’

A Nigerian woman going by the name NEFERTITI on Twitter, an abolitionist, has satirised what she sees as constituting Federal offences contrary to what the Country’s Law book stipulates.

This is as the country faces rising insecurity coupled with constitutional breaches both by Federal and state governments prompting strident calls for restructuring while other Nigerians are clamouring for secession.

The Federal Government on Tuesday berated the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for displaying crass ignorance that kidnapping and banditry are not federal offences.

On the contrary, NEFERTITI listed the federal offences to include killing of cows, criticizing Buhari, setting up the ESN, asking Buhari to resign and calling for a referendum.

In her Twitter handle of May 5, she listed others as not linking your NIN-SIM, banning Open Grazing (RUGA), selling alcohol in Kano, Kaduna and Refusal to pay Sheikh Gumi’s men.

    Federal offenses include (Full list)

    1. Killing of cows
    2. Criticizing Buhari
    3. Setting up the ESN.
    4. Asking Buhari to resign.
    5. Calling for a referendum.
    6. Not linking your NIN-SIM.
    7. Banning Open Grazing (RUGA).
    8. Selling alcohol in Kano, Kaduna.
    9. Refusal to pay Sheikh Gumi’s men.

Recall that the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed at a media briefing in Abuja, said it was shocking that PDP ruled the nation for 16 years, yet ignorant of the legal structure.

Mohammed was responding to an allegation by the opposition party that kidnappers and bandits were not being brought to book by the Federal Government.

“The PDP alleged that kidnappers and bandits are not being brought to justice. This is apparently aimed at the Federal Government.

“The PDP should therefore, call out the states, including those being controlled by it, to ensure a rigorous prosecution of arrested kidnappers and bandits.

“Meanwhile, PDP conveniently forgot that as far as terrorism, a federal offence is concerned, this Federal Government has successfully prosecuted thousands of Boko Haram members in Kainji, as part of a continuing exercise.

“We are now seeking the cooperation of the judiciary to continue with the trial of arrested terrorists,’’ he said.

The minister said the Federal Government was conscious of the challenges facing the nation and doing everything possible to tackle them.

While calling on Nigerians to support the efforts of the government to tackle the challenges, Mohammed advised those bent on playing cheap politics with the challenges to have a rethink.

However, NEFERTITI in her Twitter handle mentioned things Nigeria must do urgently.

In her tweets on Tuesday, May 4, she mentioned those things to include arrest Sanwolu, scrap state of origin, scrap the quota system, conduct a proper census and restructure or referendum.

Others are scrap the NNPC (PPPRA etc), scrap the mandatory NYSC, scrap the 1999 Constitution and scrap the federal character principle.
