The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Akwa Ibom chapter has demanded proper accountability of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and the federal allocations to the State from 2015 to date.

The party has also called on the State government to, as a matter of urgency, make public, evidence of ownership of Ibom Air, Dakadda Smart Building off Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo as well as what its described as ‘purported industries’ in the State.

Briefing journalists at the end of the State Working Committee meeting of the party in Uyo, the state capital, Rev Aniebiet Emmanuel, the State Chairman of PRP, said Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration lacks proper accountability in project execution, as well as the sincerity in fighting poverty, hunger and unemployment in the last six years.

He noted that the administration has been playing with the sensibilities of Akwa Ibom people in the areas of abandoned projects, retirees’ entitlements, creation of employment and transparency in governance.

The PRP helmsman lamented the interference of political appointees of the present government in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, which, he noted, has distorted the smooth operations in the civil service.

Rev. Emmanuel further requested that the Governor should make public the wage bill of government since the inception of his administration, the number of appointees, their salary status and allowances.

The PRP chairman also called on Akwa Ibom people to wholeheartedly team up with his party and chase away self-centered politicians as the 2023 election approaches.

He announced his party’s mandate to genuinely return power to the people of Akwa Ibom State, where they would decide the projects and how money is spent.

He, however, commended the Governor for his commitment in ensuring the security of life and prosperity, peaceful coexistence, and urged the Governor to do more in eliminating criminality, and ensuring the safety of security personnel in the state.

The meeting was well attended by State Executive Committee of the party and chapter chairmen from the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State.
