The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the inauguration of Ward executives elected at the recently concluded nationwide Ward Congresses.
The decision was part of the resolutions reached at the 16th Meeting of the APC’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC held Thursday at the Buhari House, its National Secretariat.
Rising from more than three hours meeting at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja which has about four state governors in attendance, the party’s national leadership rectified and adopted the outcome of the Ward Congresses.
Although the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee’s constituted Ward Congresses Appeal Committee recently, the directive to inaugurate the ward executives confirms the endorsement of a report from the Appeals Committee.
However, the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, on Wednesday, ignored the protests from aggrieved party members against the recently held Wards Congresses.
Entitled “Resolutions of the 16th meeting of the APC CECPC held September 1 at the National Secretariat, Buhari House,” it also endorsed the conduct of this weekend’s Local Government Congresses.
The statement signed by the National Secretary APC Caretaker Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, read: ‘‘The APC Caretaker Committee ratifies and adopts the results of the party’s nationwide Ward Congresses held on Saturday, July 31, 2021.
”Accordingly, the CECPC approves the immediate inauguration of Ward Executives by state caretaker committees.
”The CECPC hereby directs that the conduct of nationwide Local Government Congresses proceeds accordingly by Saturday, September 4th, 2021 as contained in the official timetable/schedule of activities released the party,” the statement read.
