Mrs. Ngozi Uzodike, the unpaid lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Anambra State, has given birth to septuplets (seven children).

It was learned that the newly made mother bore two boys and five girls. However, one of the girls did not survive.

The lady who teaches in the Department of Business Administration in the institution was delivered of the seven infants on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the Obijackson Women and Children Hospital, Okija.

It was gathered that the family was charged 19 million naira as the hospital bill.

While the development is a happy one, the mother of seven lamented that they had not been paid salary since 2020.

Her husband, Mr. Celestine Uzodike, who spoke to reporters on Wednesday revealed that his wife was employed by the institution as a lecturer, but had not received payment since.

Uzodike, an indigene of  Omogho, Orumba North Local Government Area in Anambra State, a  junior aide to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, bemoaned that since his wife had been promoted from Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer II, she had not received a salary of even one kobo.

He appealed to the Federal Government to pay a two-year salary arrears owed his wife to assist them in settling the bills of all the kids alone.

“The babies came out prematurely at 26th week gestation period and the hospital said they will need to be placed under intensive care unit and each of them will cost N3 million. One of them has died, remaining six babies, that is why they billed us like that.”

Mrs Uzodike, who was weak to speak after the delivery, stated, “All I want is for philanthropists both in Anambra State and Nigeria at large to come to our aid in other to offset the hospital bill.”
