    Tributes pour on dead Mass Communications Professor

    Tributes have continued to pour as a renowned Mass Communications Professor at the Lagos State University (LASU), Lai Oso, died in a road accident.

    Oso died Saturday evening when his  SUV car reportedly plunged into a river along the Ijebu axis of Ogun State.

    The Dean, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, FCMS, Lagos State University, Professor Sunday Alawode, confirmed Oso’s death.

    It was gathered that the academic was returning to Lagos from Delta State University (DELSU), where he was an external examiner at the Department of Mass Communications.

    From Network SD Journalists WhatsApp group, the members sadly poured their tributes on the erudite Professor seen as a bundle of academic scholarship, wisdom and humility.

    Oso who was one of the leading resource persons during Sustainable Development Goals workshop sponsored by United Nations Nigeria in Uyo did justice to different topics.

    Ibukun Bankole wrote ‘‘Very sad news. God rest his soul and fill his family with succor to bear the loss.’’

    Timothy Butu Mwada penned ‘‘What a sad exit! May his soul rest in peace.’’

    Ganiu Obaaro wrote: ‘‘What? Nigeria has lost one of the most respected, resourceful persons. Chei! He was one of the leading resource persons at the Media awareness seminar organised by United Nations- MAIN, Ikeja last year.’’

    Glow Reouz noted ‘‘RIP sir. We lost a rare gem.’’

    Dapo Falade asserted ‘‘It is painfully sad loss. May God Almighty rest his soul and comfort the family.’’

    The 67-year-old Oso was a communication and media studies teacher at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, from where he headed for Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye and later, the Lagos State University.

    An author of many scholarly publications, Oso is survived by his wife and children.
