The four-day Synodical Convention of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, LCN, which drew members from across the nation for New Year blessings has ended with encouragement to Nigerians to expect a total redemption of the country this year.

The National President and Archbishop of the church, Most Rev. Dr. Christian Ekong gave the encouragement in a message at the event  held at the Church national Headquarters, Obot Idim in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the state.

Dr. Ekong said God was the architect of everything that is happening in the Country and because Nigeria is His beloved nation, the best is assured.

He urged the citizens not to lose hope but to strive to do good at all times to attract the mercies, grace and glory of God upon the land.

In his homily, the Vice President of the church, Rt. Rev. Raphael Aju charged Christians not to harbour any form of fear as the year progresses but to believe that God is with them at all times.

Rt. Rev. Aju who warned that fear destroys faith and causes death, noted that despite the suffering and hopeless situation faced by people today, God’s great promises for his faithful are sure to manifest.

In his remarks, the chairman of the planning committee and Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien said the annual event was very important to the Lutherans as they believe without any doubt, that it was an avenue for God to shower His blessings on them and usher them spiritually into the New Year.

The event was rounded off with a thanksgiving and fundraising for evangelism and the Lutheran University project.

The Chairman on the occasion and Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah commended the church for its laudable contributions to the society through the establishment of educational and health institutions, among others, and encouraged it to keep the flag flying.

Other activities which featured during the spiritual outing included undiluted Praises, with 300 members’ Mass choir of the LCN, prayers, Bible study, and lectures.

A paper on the Effective and Proper Use of the Social Media in Advancing the Programs of the church was presented by Deaconess Eme Atakpo, while a presentation on Upholding Healthy lifestyles for Good Health and Longevity was handled by Elder Dr. Hippolatus Lukpata.
