Legendary Nigerian singer, 2face Innocent Idibia, aka 2Baba, has separated from his wife, Annie Idibia Macauley after marriage crisis.

The singer, who in a post via his Instagram page on Sunday, wrote, “Hello my beautiful people of all federation. Well, this thing I have to say short, but also long… I and Annie Macauley have been separated for a while now and currently filed for divorce.

“I would grant a press release soon to say my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people, and I want them to know my innocence or offence. Stay bless [sic] my people.”

This announcement comes as a shock to many, especially since the couple had just celebrated their wedding anniversary just a few days ago.

During the occasion, Annie had publicly dismissed rumours of a breakup, sharing emotional tributes on social media and posting photos from their intimate celebration.

The confirmation of their split sheds new light on the long-standing rumors and speculation surrounding the state of their marriage.

Throughout their relationship, 2Face and Annie have navigated numerous challenges, with some of their personal struggles unfolding publicly over the years.

From infidelity rumours to family disputes, the couple’s love story has been anything but smooth.

One of the most notable controversies occurred in 2021 when Annie publicly accused 2Face of spending nights with one of his baby mamas, sparking a heated social media drama.

Annie had claimed she was tired of being humiliated and disrespected in their marriage, which led to an outpouring of support and criticism from fans alike.

2Face, known for maintaining his calm demeanor, addressed the issue at the time with a cryptic post urging people to respect his family’s privacy.

Despite the turbulence, the couple appeared to reconcile, sharing loving photos and reaffirming their commitment to one another in subsequent public appearances.

Another significant source of tension has been the strained relationship between Annie and 2Face’s family members. His younger brother,

Charles Idibia once called Annie out on social media, accusing her of being controlling and manipulative.

Charles claimed that Annie’s behavior was a constant source of discord in the family, further fueling rumors of internal strife.

Annie, however, defended herself, insisting that she had always been supportive of 2Face and his extended family.

She maintained that her love for her husband was genuine, despite the challenges they faced.

Annie is said to have stood by 2Face during his rise to fame and throughout his earlier controversies, becoming a symbol of loyalty and resilience.

Their union, however, was not without challenges. 2Face’s history as a father to multiple children from different women has often cast a shadow over their marriage.

While Annie has embraced his children as her own, it has not been an easy road, as blended family dynamics sometimes led to misunderstandings.

In several interviews, she has described him as her soulmate and expressed her commitment to making their marriage work, despite the odds.

Recall that the traditional marriage between Tuface Idibia and Annie Macaulay was held at The Apostolic High School, Esit Urua Community, Eket – Ibeno Road, in Uyo, the bride’s hometown, climaxed the month-long speculation that preceded the wedding on Friday, March 9, 2013.

Tuface (now known as 2Baba) sang “You are my African Queen” because it was a song he wrote to celebrate and pay tribute to the beauty and strength of African women, essentially expressing deep admiration and respect for them through the lyrics; the song is considered a powerful anthem for African pride and female empowerment.

But, Nigerian actress, Annie, who had two children for the singer, on Saturday, 22 January, 2022, wrote, “19 years ago, while still struggling to find my feet in the modeling industry, my then-boyfriend who just broke from a boy band group called me to star in his new song (African Queen).
