The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem says empowering young people with relevant skills remains one of the most sustainable ways to tackle unemployment and poverty.
Idem reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives that promote human capacity development at the opening of the training at EeJm Hotel in Uyo, Akwa Ibom on Monday.
This forms another batch of 150 young constituents on Digital Marketing and E-Business Development, forming part of Idem’s ongoing human capital development initiative.
Recall that in January this year, he sponsored the training of 100 young constituents on cyber security and equipped them with laptops and cash grants after the exercise to aid their practice of the skills acquired.
Represented by a one-time member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Idongesit Umoh, he reiterated that the initiative forms part of his broader commitment to train 1,000 constituents in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and other related skills in order to enhance youth empowerment, job creation and economic independence in the constituency.
The all-expense paid training, which includes accommodation and feeding for all the participants and organizers, throughout the period, will see each participant receive a brand-new laptop and cash grant at the end of the training.

Straightnews gathered that this is designed to equip participants with practical digital skills needed to thrive in the modern technology-driven economy.
The current batch of trainees would receive intensive hands-on training in digital marketing strategies, online branding, social media business management, e-commerce operations and other aspects of e-business development, to establish and grow sustainable online businesses.
In his remarks, the training organizer and Managing Director of Oldbosom Nigeria Limited, Mr. Michael Adewole, highlighted the areas of coverage to include fundamentals of digital marketing, practical skills needed to start and grow online businesses, promotion of products online, creation of engaging digital content, reaching customers effectively, and building sustainable businesses using digital tools.

Some participants thanked him for the opportunity, describing the programme as timely and impactful, pledging to make the most of the training and apply the knowledge gained to create businesses and improve their livelihoods.
Speaking with our reporter, Ekomobong Umanah from Ukanafun and Namsifonde Johnson from Oruk Anam who are the trainees thanked Dr. Idem for selecting them to benefit from the programme, and promised to utilise knowledge gained from the training to better their communities, their constituency and the state as a whole.
