The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio saw President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a leader with sight and vision.

Similarly, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said the federal government under President Bola Tinubu is implementing reforms to lay solid foundation for a more stable, productive, and prosperous Nigeria.

Speaking on Friday night at the 2026 National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpabio said what is attracting everyone to the party is good governance being provided by Tinubu administration.

Akpabio told the President and party delegates who gathered at the Eagle Square in Abuja: “What is attracting all of us to the APC today is good governance.

“From the time you removed fuel subsidy, up to the time you harmonised the multiple exchange rates, then to your reforms in the educational sector, you brought the poor person in the village to now have the opportunity of getting a loan to have tertiary education.

“You brought about Agricultural revolution. You started the rails. Now people can travel from Lagos all the way to Ibadan. Now people can travel to Ajaokuta. I took a ride through the coastal road that we contemplated 50 years ago in the Niger Delta region. May God bless you, bless your work and the wisdom He has given to you.

“In you, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from what you have done transforming Lagos, transforming many states in the Federation, building men across, you are one man that has sight and also has vision and you translate it to Nigeria. Mr. President, Nigerians are yet to see the best of you.

“Despite the difficult economy that you met, you are turning things around. You have brought the tax reforms. You have brought about dignity to Nigeria. The recent visit to the United Kingdom, after 37 years, showed clearly that Nigeria has now come on the world stage.

“And for members of our party, from about 18 states in the Federation, we now have 32 governors and still growing. By election day, we may have 36 over 36.”

Akpabio who is the Chairman of the National Assembly assured President Tinubu of the continous support and cooperation of the Legislature, and assured Nigerians that the current menace of insecurity would soon be a thing of the past.

“And for those of us in the Legislature, Mr President, be assured of our continuous support and cooperation because when the house is in order, when the National Assembly is stable, when everybody is akin to your Renewed Hope Agenda, then indeed Nigeria, definitely, will see progress.

“For the insecurity that you see today, I want to assure you that the bull you see today, the terrorists you see today, with the ingenuity of our President, and the support and prayers of all Nigerians, you shall soon see them no more. May God brings stability to Nigeria. May God grants us peace. May God grants peace to the APC family,” Akpabio said.

    Uzodimma hails Tinubu’s Reforms

Meanwhile, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said that the reforms being implemented by the federal government under President Bola Tinubu are laying a solid foundation for a more stable, productive, and prosperous Nigeria.

Uzodimma described the gathering as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed determination for the ruling party.

He said the convention was not merely to fulfil a constitutional requirement but to celebrate a political movement that had continued to grow in strength, deepen its structures, and mature in purpose.

The governor noted that from the ward to the national level, the APC had demonstrated resilience, unity, and democratic discipline in the conduct of its congresses and activities, adding that the steady progression reflected the vitality of its internal processes and the confidence Nigerians continued to repose in the party.

Uzodimma also highlighted the increasing expansion of the party’s membership base across communities and demographics, as well as the progress made in electronic membership registration, describing the growth as a product of vision, organisation, and hard work.

He said, “This convention must stand as more than a gathering. It must be a reaffirmation of mission. The APC was not built mainly to win elections, but to shape history, provide direction, and build a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous nation.”

Commending President Tinubu’s leadership, the governor said the administration had demonstrated courage and clarity in implementing difficult but necessary reforms.

“In moments that demanded courage, he has chosen courage. In times that required clarity, he has provided direction. Today, the foundation for a more stable economy is being firmly laid, with brighter prospects for long-term growth and development,” he said.

Uzodimma added that true leadership required not just managing present challenges but preparing for the future, noting that the President had shown statesmanship in navigating the country through critical reforms.

He, however, stressed that reforms must translate into tangible benefits for Nigerians, assuring that governors elected on the APC platform remained committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government.

According to him, the Progressive Governors Forum would continue to partner with the federal government to promote economic opportunities, strengthen social protection, expand infrastructure, improve security, and empower youths and women across the states.

The governor called for unity within the party, urging members to remain disciplined and focused on service rather than personal interests.

“This is a moment for unity, not division; for discipline, not distraction; and for service, not self-interest. Our party must remain broad enough to accommodate diversity, disciplined enough to protect its values, and visionary enough to lead Nigeria through a changing world,” he said.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to progressive ideals such as justice, inclusion, accountability, and national renewal, adding that the convention should send a clear message that the APC remained strong, cohesive, and forward-looking.

Uzodimma congratulated members and leaders of the party on its growth and unity, expressing optimism that the convention would strengthen internal cohesion and open a new chapter in the APC’s journey.

The Convention was attended by top party leaders, including Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, Godswill Akpabio, and Tajudeen Abbas, among others.
