CAPIS 3C EDUCATION SERIES — EPISODE 2
SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS 3C?
In the last episode, we asked a simple question:
What if getting access to opportunities isn’t as hard as it seems?
Because all around us, commercial activities are happening.
Projects are being developed.
Businesses are expanding.
Infrastructure is being built.
New markets are opening up.
Yet, for many people, the experience is simply to watch.
You see the opportunity.
You hear about the projects.
You may even think:
“This is something I would love to be part of.”
But knowing about an opportunity and having a pathway to participate in it are two very different things.
That’s where the CAPIS Commonwealth Card — 3C comes in.
But what exactly is 3C?
The CAPIS Commonwealth Card (3C) Service is a non-deposit platform access service that provides eligible clients with access to CAPIS financing capacity and structured opportunities for economic participation.
At its simplest, 3C is designed to give clients structured access to a commercial ecosystem where they can explore opportunities and participate in qualifying activities through CAPIS.
It starts with a one-time platform access fee of ₦35,000 for the Individual Plan.
But 3C isn’t simply about getting a card.
It’s about creating a pathway to participation.
Through the 3C platform, clients can access opportunities connected to qualifying commercial projects and, where they meet the relevant requirements, bid to participate in those projects.
With the Individual Plan, you receive a Financing Capital Voucher of up to ₦30,000,000 upon registration.
Yes, you heard that right! ₦30 million in financing capacity.
Think about some of the kinds of commercial activity that can create opportunities:
Agriculture.
Renewable energy.
Transportation.
Shopping and commercial infrastructure.
Technology-enabled businesses.
These aren’t just ideas on paper.
They are the kinds of commercial activities through which economies grow and businesses are built.
And the idea behind 3C is simple:
More Nigerians should have a pathway to participate in economic activity — not just observe it.
And 3C has more than one pathway.
There is the Commercial Project Bidding pathway, which is the focus of this series.
And there is also a Contract Financing pathway, designed around a different kind of commercial need.
We’re going to take our time with both.
No confusing terminology.
No trying to explain everything at once.
We’ll break each pathway down using simple examples, so you can understand what it is, how it works and where you might fit.
But let’s start with the pathway at the heart of this series:
Project Participation.
What does it actually mean to participate in a commercial project through 3C?
That’s the question we’re answering next.
