Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has dismissed erroneous belief by some Pastors thinking their prophecy was responsible for his emergence as the state Governor.
Eno who said he was amused by such narrative condemned what he saw as the antics of “fake pastors” applying such to deceive and mislead people.
The Governor spoke this during a thanksgiving service by Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council held at The Apostolic Church, Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of the state on Sunday, January 19.

Governor Eno recalled that a group of Pastors had written to him threatening that without appreciating them for predicting his emergence as Akwa Ibom Governor, his administration would fail.
‘‘They said since I have abandoned them, they would pray for the failure of my government. This is amusing. Anyway, I will like to see and hold a meeting with them,’’ he stated.
As a reminder, he narrated his long walk to governorship position in Akwa Ibom State many years ago even when he was not prepared for it.
‘‘As a young boy, I used to attend a branch of The Apostolic Church in Lagos State. One day, a six-year-old girl drew me from the crowd and prophesised that I would become a Governor in my state. I did not take it seriously.’’
‘‘At another time, my late mother took me to a prayer meeting of women in The Apostolic Church still in Lagos. A woman called me and prophesised that I would become a Governor in my state. I told my mother, wait o ‘let me go and pee. I left the church for my home without telling my mother.
When my mother returned, she queried me why I left. I told her that I doubted the prophecy. Look, we are struggling to eat, struggling to pay rent, and struggling to pay school fees even to my siblings. My mother replied: The prophecy is for appointed time. At appropriate time, it will speak and will not fail.
”This is story of my life. Therefore, people should not tell me stories about my emergence as a governor.’’
Eno who was elected as a Governor under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 faced tough legal battle during and after nomination as well as during and after electioneering campaign.

In his sermon, Professor Ime Nyong George, the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Uyo Field preaching on the theme: Grace Upon Grace taken from John 1:16, admitted that Akwa Ibom has witnessed grace in all sectors of life.
Prof George said media work is not an all comer’s affair but a serious business for people who are fully equipped for it.
‘‘In the emergence of our democracy, the media played a crucial to the society, serving as an eye for those without eyes, mouth for those without mouths, ear for those without ears and leg for those without legs.’’
While he stressed the need for media professionals to take their job seriously, he wondered why positive things do not trend but negative things usually trend, harping on the need for them to change the narrative.
The service featured praises, worship songs, choir renditions, among others.
