Prof. Anthony Edosomwan, a retired lecturer at the Ambrose Ali University (AAU), who was abducted recently by suspected kidnappers has been found dead around Ogida quarters, Benin City.

The Octogenarian, who was a former senior lecturer at the Ambrose Ali University, was abducted in his Benin residence, penultimate Saturday.

An eyewitness said when the gunmen came, “they accosted the house maid and rushed to the Professor’s living, where he was relaxing. They ransacked the house, collected money, and mobile phones before taking the Professor away with his Highlander jeep.”

Vanguard learnt that the abductors later established contact with the wife demanding N50 million ransom, but after the first contact the line went dead, until the family was informed that the dead body was sighted at a bush part around Upper Siluko road yesterday.

The body has been deposited at the mortuary by the police while the Highlander jeep was also recovered.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, noted that the incident occurred before he arrived in the state, and vowed to get the suspects arrested.
