Ghana Football Association has sacked its coach, Milovan Rajevac, four days after the country’s disastrous outing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The decision was taken by Ghana FA Saturday morning after the Black Stars crashed out of the 33rd edition of the AFCON without winning a match.

Their 3-2 loss against debutants, Comoros Island on Tuesday sent them packing from the tournament.

This comes after the Ministry of Youth and Sports ordered the GFA to review the work and capacity of the Black Stars head coach.

“The Ministry made it clear to the GFA that the people of Ghana have lost confidence in the capacity of the current technical team of the Black Stars to deliver success. The Ministry, therefore, asked the GFA to review the work and capacity of the Black Stars technical team led by the head coach Milovan Rajevac,” the Minister said in a statement.

He also ordered the GFA to dissolve the Black Stars Management Committee.

“Following the emergency meeting, the Ministry, in accordance with his mandate asked the Ghana Football Association to reconstitute the Black Stars Management Committee,” he added.

Coach Rajevac, the Serbian coach, appointed in September 2021, stated after the Comoros match that his target was to qualify the team to the 2022 World Cup, and won’t resign after the shameful AFCON display.

“I am not leaving. I want to stay and qualify Ghana for the World Cup. We didn’t start the game against Comoros how we wanted, and we conceded an early goal. It was a poor start for us, and then the red card to Andre Ayew changed everything.

I think Comoros deserved this win because they played very well than us,” the coach said.

Meanwhile, the GFA is considering naming Ibrahim Tanko, Otto Addo or Stephen Appiah as interim coach of the Black Stars after sacking Milovan Rajevac on Saturday morning.
