Nigeria claimed bronze medal at AFCON 2025 in a third place match after defeating Egypt in a high-tension penalty shootout in Morocco on Saturday.
The Super Eagles have secured third place in the competition for a record-extending ninth time in their history.
The Super Eagles had lost 4-2 to hosts Morocco via penalties in the semi-final.
Coach Eric Chelle left star players Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman on the bench for the game. But he later introduced the latter, who sealed the decisive spotkick in the shootout!

After a regulation 90 minutes that offered few thrills, Nigeria who showed more attacking intent and created more scoring opportunities against the Pharoahs.
However, neither side was able to capitalize, resulting in a scoreless deadlock at the end of normal time.
There was no extra time in the match.
During the shoot-out, Stanley Nwabali proved to be the hero of the day, as he saved from Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush.
Ademola Lookman scored to give Nigeria the third place of the AFCON 2025.
Nigeria eventually ran out 4-2 winners, clinching the bronze medal for a record ninth time.
The final will be played tomorrow between Morocco and Senegal.
