Akwa Ibom Police Command has given a dreaded militant from Etim Ekpo local government area in Akwa Ibom State a 24-hour ultimatum to surrender his weapons or be fished out by the police.

The militant- Overcomer also known as Englishman from Ikpe Annang in Etim Ekpo local government area is among the 59 persons in the wanted list of the police command.

Englishman whose wife and mother had been arrested and detained by police was alleged to have kidnapped a 10-year-old child and seven women from Ikot Inyang Abia in Ukanafun local government area on the grounds that the local government chairman, an indigene of the village might have had a hand in the arrest of the said wife.

Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police who gave the directive on Tuesday at Central Primary School, Ikot Akpa Nkuk in Ukanafun local government area, assured that the clemency was opened to him.

Ogunjemilusi, who was accompanied by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom to the area, said he gave Overcomer the ultimatum after he had refused to surrender arms and embrace peace.

Emmanuel, however, called on the said ‘Overcomer‘ to come out of the bush like others and surrender before Thursday morning.

“Those of you who have his number, call him and tell him that I want him to come and see me with all his six AK-47 and I will collect it and use it to protect him,” the Governor added.

Also in the trip were Moses Ekpo, the deputy Governor; Emmanuel Enoidem, the National Legal Adviser of the Party; Emmanuel Ekuwem, the Secretary to the State Government; Udo Ekpenyong, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the chairmen of Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo local government areas.
