A Nigerian man who claims to be on the same Ibom flight with Ms Comfort Emmanson, the young lady who was arrested, arraigned and remanded in prison for assaulting one of the airline hostesses, has defended her stance.

In a voice note he sent to anti-drug campaigner, David Jones David, the man claimed the air hostess was triggered Ms Comfort.

In his words; ‘’Honestly speaking, that lady did not do up to 10% of what I would have done if I were in her shoes. The truth is those people posted what they wanted everybody to see. They created a narrative they wanted people to see so people could actually pity them.

This lady (Comfort) was not insultive, rude. The whole issue started from the air hostess. That lady is power-drunk. She is the kind of Nigerian elder that believes they want everything they say to be done exactly how they say it, when they want it. …because tell me the reason why you went to meet somebody and say ‘’turn off your phone’ and the person said ‘’My phone is on flight mode.

”I am actually going through my videos and editing videos and the next thing is you raise your voice and say ‘all these useless children. all these people wen no get respect. Do I look like your mate? Do I do this, do I do that’…and the lady is still calm, saying I told you I have turned it off’

”The lady tried to show you, you took the phone and smashed it on the floor’…Excuse me!!!!

    ”She kept quiet!

”You ran abuses on her. People are trying to tell you ‘Madam, e don do’.. You (air hostess) dey etll them whether them wan bring the plane down…

”When it was time to alight from the plane, you blocked her saying you have called security on her…

”When those security people came, the girl remained quiet from the dragging of clothes , to the slapping, that air hostess literarily slapped that lady. You (air hostess) pushed her on the floor so people can pass over her.

”You insulted the lady, slapped her, went ahead to call her prostitute”

Meanwhile, a new video has surfaced online showing the controversial moment Ibom Air crew member physically blocked suspended passenger, Comfort Emmanson, from disembarking an aircraft after landing, further fuelling public anger over what many Nigerians describe as the airline’s “humiliating” treatment of her.

In one clip obtained by SaharaReporters, Emmanson can be heard saying in Pidgin: “Madam abeg comot for road, make I pass.” In another version of the footage, she adds: “Can you see now, I want to go out and she is standing on the way.”

According to a Facebook user, Tunde A. Ibrahim, who claimed to have been on the same flight, the drama unfolded after the plane touched down in Lagos.

“I was on board. It was the crew member that resisted the lady from coming down because of put off phone and no put off phone. The lady told the crew that her phone was already on flight mode. After landing, they refused to allow the lady from coming down, saying they have called the airport security to pick her up. In fact, they pushed the lady back on seat for many of us to pass,” Ibrahim said.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, on the airline’s Uyo–Lagos service, has been widely criticised since it first became public.

However, it was the circulation of a shocking video — showing her exposed breasts as airport security dragged her from the aircraft—that sparked public outrage over the crew’s and security officials’ conduct.

Many Nigerians accused the airline of violating her dignity.

An X user, @EdmundAkins, wrote: “It could be depression or something. Her mental state is obviously altered. I expect the female airline staff to do more to protect her dignity. They could use a cover cloth at least.”

Another user, @Krisabah, lashed out: “Why deliberately pull up her top to reveal her breast and still share the picture? I swear, if I were the girl, I will sue the devil out of @ibomairlines. This embarrassment outdid everything u had on the poor girl. Bloody perverts.”

“Much as I detest what the passenger did, stripping her naked is even more wicked and whoever did this should be summarily dismissed. It’s very unprofessional and obscene,” @Idyllicjay stated.

Others argued that even if she attacked a crew member, the proper course of action would have been to restrain her with handcuffs rather than strip her in public.
