    AKHA gives committee one week to screen Commissioners and Special Advisers-designate

    Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has given the House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petitions one week to screen the Commissioners and Special Advisers-designate and report to the House.

    The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, directed the committee headed by Hon. Aniefiok Attah representing Nsit Atai State Constituency in the House.

    The list of nominees came from Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno for confirmation as Commissioners and Special Advisers into the State Executive Council.

    The Governor in a message; GHU/AKS/S/104/VOL.XII/145 dated 10th February, 2025 addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon . Udeme Otong, urged the Lawmakers to confirm the list of the  27 nominees.

    Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs. NsikakAbasi Orok read the message on the floor of the House during Tuesday plenary.

    The nominees include Uko Essien Udom -Etinan; Elder Aniekan Umanah -Abak; Princess Emem Ibanga-Nsit Atai; Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong –Ikot Ekpene; Comrade Ini Emem Obong -Ibiono Ibom; Hon. Frank Archibong –Eket; Mr. Paul Bassey -Eket; Dr. Offiong Samuel Offor-Ini; Dr. Anietie Udofia-Uyo; Rt. Hon. Iniobong Robson-Esit Eket and Dr. Emmanuel John Ekem–Oruk Anam.

    Others are Dr. Nsikan Linus Nkan -Ibesikpo Asutan; Captain. Iniobong Ekong–Nsit Ubium; Hon. Ikoedem Ekong–Ibeno, Hon. Ubuo Effiong Ubuo — Okobo; Mrs. Inibehe Silas Etukudo-Ika; Dr. Ubong Inyang–Ikono; Gen Koko Essien (rtd) – Uruan; Mr.Anthony Luke–Essien Udim; Henry Archibong — Itu; Mr. Bob Almond Emem – Onna; Dr. Frank Ekpenyong — Ukanafun; Dr. Ekanem Ekerette – Etim Ekpo;  Barr. KufreAbasi Udosen -Ikot Abasi; Rt. Hon. Alice Ekpenyong–Mbo and Prof. Eno Ibanga – Mkpat Enin.

    The Governor’s message was received by the lawmakers following a motion moved by the Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. (Sir) Effiong Johnson and seconded by the member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Udoide for consideration.

    Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary to reconvene on Tuesday, 18th February, 2025 at 10 a.m.
