A delegation of representatives from countries across Africa have conferred the Kwame Nkrumah Pan African Leadership Prize, on the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Unyime Idem for his hard work and dedication to nation building.
The Pan-African body, with its headquarters in Ghana, otherwise known as Kwame Nkrumah Prize for Scientific Excellence, was established by the African Union in September 2008.
The prize, presented by Stay Africa Youth Development Initiative, a Pan-African organization, draws membership from 15 countries across the continent.

In the delegation were Amb. Austine Kwassi (Cote d’Ivoire) – Leader of delegation; Christella Wisdom (Republic of Chad), Njok Bella M. (President Representative (Ghana), Comr. Henry Nkem (Nigeria), and Dominic Eveh (Nigeria).
Idem was honoured for hard work and dedication to National Service, selfless leadership ideology and high administrative prudence and developmental strides across communities in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency.
Other considerations include his efforts in nation building and accountability, exemplary lifestyle which promotes African moral values, zero tolerance to corruption, nepotism and favouritism, students and youth empowerment, and management teamwork, among others.
The Pan-African body also hailed Idem who is also the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement’s strides in building future leaders, inspiring and educating young Africans to stay back and developing the continent, encouraging sustainable entrepreneurship for the purpose of providing Africa with intellectually equipped youths to ensure a secured future for Africa, as well as intentionally training dynamic young people to represent Africa on the international arena.
The leader of the delegation, Amb. Kwassi, presented the prize to Idem in his office at the National Assembly complex, Abuja, after it rounded off its campaign against drug abuse in Nigeria.
Kwassi, in his speech, described Rep. Idem as an “Icon of true democracy in Africa” for his contributions towards the advancement of the ideology of Pan-Africanism.
Receiving the prize, Rep. Unyime Idem, expressed appreciation to Stay Africa for identifying his modest achievements, noting that the honour will propel him to do more for his people.
“To be identified and honoured with this prize in a House of Representatives of 360 members, coming together from all the states of the Federation and the FCT, means so much to me, and I don’t take this for granted.”
“This honour will propel me to explore more ways of attending to the needs of my constituency, state and country in general. It is a call to more work, and I promise to go steps higher to attract tangible dividends to my people,” Idem stated.
