… Redeploys Commissioner for Lands
The Akwa Ibom State Government has revoked land allocations made from May 29, 2023, to August 25, 2025, including government-acquired lands.
A statement issued Monday by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Essien Udom, SAN, explained that the action is to enable the revalidation of all land allocations and migration to the new digital Akwa-GIS platform.
During this transition, all fresh allocations and land transactions are suspended for one month during which period the Directorate of Land shall be shut, while the revalidation exercise will last two months, to be conducted by the GIS office in the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning.

The government warned that any land allocation or interest not revalidated within this period will be declared invalid.
Straightnews gathered that the revocation may not unconnected with alleged land racketeering by the outgone and other officials in the Ministry while some acquired or purported ones were secretly sold to interested members of the public at exorbitant amounts.
Governor Umo Eno Announces Cabinet Reshuffle
Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening the State Executive Council and aligning it more effectively with the implementation of the ARISE Agenda.
In the new posting, Capt. Iniobong Ekong (rtd.) has been redeployed to the Ministry of Trade and Investment, while Dr. Ubong Inyang will assume office as the new Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning.
The reshuffle takes immediate effect.
In a similar development, the state government has approved the disengagement of ESV Udeme Daniel Isa, the Senior Special Assistant to the Government on Land Matters.

A press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah thanked him for his contributions to the development of the state and directed him to hand over all relevant documents/property to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands.
