Akwa Ibom State has hit 17 new COVID-19 cases, being the highest since the outbreak of the pandemic some months ago, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed.
This has brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in Akwa Ibom to 65, though more than 40 persons with infections have been discharged.
NCDC, in its Twitter handle further announced that Nigeria recorded 667 new cases while the total number of mortality is 487 with about 6,581 recovered cases as at Friday night.
Already, Lagos which is the epicentre of the pandemic recorded the highest-281 followed by Abia-48, Oyo-45, FCT-38, Ogun-37, Enugu-31, Ondo-23, Plateau-21, Edo-19, Delta-18, Rivers-18, and Bayelsa-17.
Other states are Kaduna-14, Kano-12, Bauchi-9, Gombe-4, Osun-3, Benue-3, Nasarawa-3, Kwara-3, Ekiti-2, Borno-1.
