The member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Ime Bassey Okon has attracted development projects worth millions of Naira to his constituency.
The projects coming under the Federal Constituency projects include a four-classroom block at Presbyterian Primary School, North Itam; a six-classroom block of Technical College, Ayadehe consulted by Sustainable Develpoment Goals (SDGs).
Others are solar-powered borehole at Afaha Itam and construction of 1.5 km Joseph Uwah Street with solar-powered lights at Mbak Itam 111 in Akwa Ibom; Civic Centre, Idoro in Ibiono Ibom; and Civic Centre, Nkwa in Ibiono Ibom.
Recall that the Federal Government under its Constituency Projects had approved N150 million worth of projects for each member of the House of Representatives.
As part of holding the state and Federal legislators accountable to their constituents, the Centre for Human Rights and Accountability Networth (CHRAN) led by its Director, Otuekong Franklyn Isong leading some journalists toured the sites of projects on Wednesday on June 4.
At the four-classroom block at Presbyterian Primary School, North Itam, Mr. Mfon Ekpenyong, the tour guide, told the team that Obong Ime Okon facilitated the project to solve accommodation problem facing the pupils of the school.
Ekpenyong, who said the project was yet to be furnished, showed the team the toilet facility in the school also constructed by Geobass Universal Concept still under the federal Constituency project.
At the six-classroom block of Technical College, Ayadehe in Itu, Otuekong Isong was told that project was facilitated by Obong Ime Okon.
Mr. Ekpenyong explained that the block had been furnished pending resumption of class by the students.
At the site of solar-powered borehole at Afaha Itam, Mr. Ekpenyong explained that residents of the area had been faced with water scarcity for years before the intervention by the House of Representatives member.

A beneficiary of the borehole from the area, Isaac Asuquo Edem who confirmed the quality and drinkable nature of the water said ‘‘We used to go as far as Atim stream to fetch water.’’

The team was shown the constructed 1.5 km Joseph Uwah Street with solar-powered lights at Mbak Itam 111 in Akwa Ibom.
Answering journalists from where construction of the street would terminate, Mr. Ekpenyong said the construction of the second phase of the project that has begun would terminate at Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Federal Highway.
