    Akwa Ibom Rep Breaks Glass ceiling in legislative representation

    The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Mr. Unyime Idem has broken glass ceiling on legislative representation based on his sterling performance.

    So far, the two-term member in Nigeria’s House of Representatives sponsored more than eight motions in the past 18 months.

    Rt. Hon, Idem who is also the Chairman, Public Procurement Committee, facilitated the employment of 34 Akwa Ibom sons and daughters into Federal Ministries, Departments, Agencies and higher institutions.

    For example, he assisted the employment of Ubonobong Mfon Umoh, Mkpouto Victor Umoh and John Nkan into National Assembly Service Commission.

    Similarly, the two-term Lawmaker ensured the employment of five Akwa Ibom youths into the Federal Fire Service.

    The beneficiaries are Enyongama Joseph Udiang, Agnes Emmanuel Samuel, Love Friday Alexander, Uforo Aniefiok Udofia and Nsikak Sunday Usoro.

    In the National Broadcasting Commission, Idem assisted the employment of Utenge Edidiong Ntekpe, Edikan Saturday Michael, Nsikak Sunday Udo, Eyop Monday Mendie, Enomfon Sunday Ettete, and Ofong Ubon Oliver to the commission.

    The Ukanafun-born Lawmaker equally facilitated the employment of his three constituents into Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, and two into National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.

    He equally sponsored 28 Akwa Ibom sons and daughters to United Kingdom, China and Rwanda, among others for professional training.

    On Monday, December 30, 2024, he launched and distributed the first set of 50 non-fuel electric motorcycles to his constituents.

    Within this period, Idem empowered 2,620 constituents with cars and other accessories.

    During the Yuletide, he distributed more than 4,000 bags of rice to people.

    He also put smiles on the faces of different groups and persons in his constituency in celebration by sharing food items and cash gift to 187 traditional rulers in Ukanafun and Oruk Anam Local Government Areas.

    In the academic sector, he laid a foundation for the construction of a one-storey Administrative and a Classroom Blocks at Western Annang Secondary Commercial School (WASCO) in Ukanafun Local Government Area.

    Idem inaugurated and installed the first phase of solar-powered street light in 200 communities across Ukanafun and Oruk Anam Local Government Areas.
