A 42-year-old indigene of Ekim Village, Udung Uko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, one Victor Okoh is reportedly cooling his feet in police cell for gruesome murder of his wife over alleged infidelity.

Mr. Okoh is alleged to have used matchete to attack and in the process gruesomely murdered his wife, one Victoria splattering blood on the floor and wall like water from leaked pipe in his residence along Effiong Essang Street in Oron Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident on Monday, March 10, the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John in a statement, said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusation of infidelity.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare said officers responded to a distress call from concerned residents around 5:20 a.m. and arrived at the scene to find the mutilated body of the deceased outside the couple’s home.

The Commissioner of Police condemned the act in its entirety and assured the public that justice will take its full course.

He warned against all forms of domestic violence and called on residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Oron Local Government Area, Chief Okon Asukwo Enweme, who had visited the scene of the incident, condemned in strong terms the gruesome murder of the woman.

Enweme who led government officials and security personnel to the scene of the ugly incident at Effiong Essang Street, Oron, frowned seriously at how someone in his sanity could murder his wife in cold blood.

He described the act as barbaric and inhuman and alien to our culture referring to it as “wickedness in high places.”

The council boss warned against further escalation of the ugly incidence by the deceased family or community youths, as a way of embarking on a revenge mission, as that would lead to breakdown of law and order.
