Zimbabweans have poured into the streets of Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital to celebrate the fall of their 93-year-old despotic ruler, Robert Mugabe. Mugabe who assumed political power since the country gained independence in 1980 has contested many elections and won overwhelmingly. Though Mugabe has consistently declared that he remains the ruler of the country decimated by poverty and hunger, men, women, children and even soldiers celebrated the ousting of the despot. A 20-year-old Miss India has been crowned Miss World 2017 in the Sanya City Arena in China PR. The new beauty queen is Manushi Chhillar, a medical student from Haryana. Already, Miss World 2016, Miss Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle has handed over the coveted crown to Chhillar who defeated other beauties from more than 108 countries. Obese people who follow a low-fat weight-loss plan could tack extra years onto their life, a new review of medical evidence suggests. Hungry-looking pensioners numbering hundreds of Abia State took to the streets of Umuahia, the state capital, to protest what they called the government’s insensitivity to the plights of their members. Researchers report they have discovered a genetic mutation in Amish families living in Indiana that not only protects against type 2 diabetes, but also appears to boost longevity. Even better, the Northwestern University scientists said that an experimental longevity drug that mimics this genetic effect is now being tested in humans.
