Justice Rilwan Aikawa convicted and sentenced Oluwayemisi Owolabi after she pleaded guilty to one-count charge of drug trafficking preferred against her by Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The convict’s lawyer, Morenike Ogunleye, pleaded: “The convict is a first-time offender, and she is sober. Frequent use of non-steroids and anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin can lead to peptic ulcer, says a consultant gastroenterologist of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. The medical practitioner, Adegboyega Akere told NAN Wednesday that 20 per cent of patients using anti-inflammatory drugs are prone to peptic ulcer. “Frequent use of NSAID drugs like aspirin, Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory drugs can lead to peptic ulcers. “The risks associated with this behaviour increase in women and men over the age of 60.” According to Akere, peptic ulcers are “sores that develop in the lining of the stomach, lower esophagus or in the…
Former Vice-President of the botched second republic, Alex Ekwueme, is said to be undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit in a private hospital, Enugu State for undisclosed sickness. Four passengers were killed and six injured by Boko Haram terrorists along Banki-Bula-Yobe Road in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, says Director of Army Public Relations. Brig.Gen. The Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Jubilee Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State has handed over two young men arrested with a vehicle loaded with illegally refined petroleum products to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for investigation. The World Bank has ranked Nigeria 145th out of 190 countries of the world in its latest report of Doing Business 2018. In the World Bank’s report released Tuesday, Nigeria scored 52.03 points, which was slightly above the African Regional Average of 50.43 points, moving up 24 places in the rankings. “The country is among the top ten reformers globally,” the bank reported. New Zealand, Denmark and Singapore topped the global table with 86.56, 84.57 and 84.06 points, respectively.
