Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has called on other G8 and G20 countries to join in establishing public registers of the real human owners of companies in their countries to end corporate secrecy at home and among their dependencies. Speaking at a conference on beneficial ownership organised by Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Jakarta, Indonesia, Osinbajo commended United Kingdom, Norway, Netherlands and Denmark for leading the initiative. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory at Jabi Monday fixed November 1 to begin hearing on a suit by Mr. Beluolisa Nwofor whose Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) rank was withdrawn by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC). Fierce brawl between two tenants over apartment exposed the antics of a 45-year-old developer who allegedly duped 74 would-be tenants worth N50 million at Ijeshatedo area of Lagos. Fear gripped residents of Adak Uko Street in Calabar, Cross River State Monday night, when a student of Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH and a seamstress lost their lives due to electrocution. The victims simply identified as David, and Mrs. Dominic Udoh, a mother of three, died after sustaining severe burns.
