The Federal Government has no plans to increase the price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, known as petrol, Abdulkadir Saidu, the Executive Secretary, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, said Tuesday. Saidu stated in a statement in Abuja that the retail price of petrol remained at the subsisting price cap of N145 per litre. He urged Nigerians to ignore the growing speculation on the purported imminent increase in the pump price, advising marketers to ensure there was no price distortion in their respective retail outlets. Senate, Tuesday, witnessed a rowdy session following the submission of reports of the Committee on Anti-corruption which recommended the confirmation of some nominees of the commission. The uproar led to the suspension of confirmation of the nominees appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016. In continuation of its foreign exchange restriction on 41 items popularly known as ’41 items policy’, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Monday increased the number of items banned from accessing foreign exchange to 42 as it imposed foreign exchange ban on fertilizer importation. The World Bank-sponsored State Employment and Expenditure for Result, SEEFOR, Monday, said it has budgeted $70 million (about N25.27billion) for its intervention in public works in youth engagements next year for the Niger Delta States. The states are Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers States.
