More than 20,000 retired primary school teachers in Akwa Ibom State are said to be groaning under excruciating pains and penury over non-payment of gratuity and arrears of pensions amounting to billions of naira owed them by the state government. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has distanced itself from the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state that it is aiding and abeting the five sacked lawmakers to cause tension in the state House of Assembly.
