The death toll from rampaging flood across the country has risen to 242, according to Vanguard checks and information from government officials. At the weekend, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said the number of deaths from ongoing waves of flood in the 12 states of the country is 101. From January to July 31, this year, the checks showed that no fewer than 141 lives were lost to rainstorm, wind storm and flood disasters across the country. The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, said the Akwa Ibom State’s debt profile rose to N179 billion at the end of the first half of 2018 (HI’ 18). By this report released by the bureau on Thursday, Akwa Ibom occupies the fourth position of the most indebted states in the country.
