The Benue State Police command arrested four and killed two of the suspected robbers who attacked four commercial banks in Otukpo. Some robbers on Friday attacked commercial banks in Otukpo, killing at least 10 persons and carted away undisclosed sum. Confirming the incident, the command said the Otukpo Divisional Police Officer, John Adikwu said three other policemen were killed in the gun battle with the bank robbers who also killed many others within and outside the bank premises. The average retail price of a litre of petrol increased from N191.65 in September 2022 to N626.21 in September 2023, declared the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). NBS made the declaration in its Petrol Price Watch for September 2023 released in Abuja Saturday. It stated that the September 2023 price of N626.21 represented a 226.75 per cent increase over the price of N191.65 recorded in September 2022. Nigerian fighter, Kamaru Usman lost his clash to Russian Khamzat Chimaev, who used grappling, striking and defense in their middleweight bout in UFC 294 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Saturday night, October 21. An Court of Appeal has nullified the election of the Senate Minority Leader, Simon Mwadkwon of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Plateau North Senatorial District. In a judgment in Abuja on Sunday, a three-member panel of the court found, among others, that the PDP had no valid candidate in the election. The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in the senatorial district within 90 days. Our reporter The remains of three persons who died along Itu-Uyo Road in Akwa Ibom have been deposited in a nearby mortuary in the state. It was gathered that a Mack truck with registration number KMM 412 XA had a head-on collision with a tricycle (Keke) with registration number ETN 815 WR. The remains of a person who reportedly died in auto crash involving a tanker vehicle and a 406 Peugeot car along Stadium Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital have been evacuated to a mortuary. Finnish telecom giant Nokia said Thursday it could cut its workforce by as many as 14,000 people after it reported lower-than-expected third-quarter profits. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has established a College of Awardees to implement Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP). The college will leverage the collective experiences of successful entities in the latest bidding process of the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme and other stakeholders in the NGFCP’s implementation journey. The College will also serve as the forum for connecting other stakeholders and critical support systems to preferred bidders/permit holders, bringing together world-class service providers, including technology providers/original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), financiers and funding entities, and multilateral agencies to foster optimal delivery of the flare commercialisation projects.
