Rochas Okorocha, Imo state governor Wednesday may have been justified as one of the world leaders, Theresa May, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, almost replicated the designation of the ministry he created last year. Okorocha had in December 2017 appointed and swore in his biological sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha) as the state’s Commissioner for Happiness and Couples’ Fulfillment. Almost bearing the same name, Britain appointed a “minister for loneliness” on Wednesday, January 17 to tackle what Prime Minister May described as “the sad reality of modern life” affecting millions of people. While Nigerians mocked Okorcha for a creating…
Bitcoin has traded below $10,000 for the first time since early December. The value of one bitcoin fell to $9,958 (£7,222) before making a slight recovery, according to the price index run by the news site Coindesk. That represents a drop of nearly 50 per cent since it peaked close to $19,800 five weeks ago. Other crypto-currencies including Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash have also experienced steep falls over the past day. There has been concern among some experts that a bubble had been forming in the market as casual investors piled into an asset they did not fully understand.…
John Tall Jukuns The incessant influx of Fulanis to all nooks and crannies of the country poses grave source of concern to many discernible people. This suspicion is highly fuelled by the relentless killings, rapes and mainings of Nigerians and wanton destruction of properties coupled with displacement of individuals from their ancestral homes by suspected Fualani herdsmen. Yet, many Nigerians beclouded by parochial and tribal reasons are aloof of the impending danger lurking in the corner. Others are afraid that the situation may snowball into genocidal war. Yet, a few want government to be proactive to avoid replication of history.…

The Fulani Nationality Movement, (FUNAM) has warned those who oppose the Fulani cattle trade to be cautious of the consequences, saying “We are ready for the worse. We are prepared for war. There is hope for peace if and only if attacks on Fulani herdsmen stop and the Fulani are allowed to settle anywhere that the Fulani chose to settle in Nigeria.” The body met on Saturday in Kano, the capital of Kano State in the face of an uproar that greeted the horrendous killings and maimings of innocent and defecneless people by suspected Fulani herdsmen reached wide-ranging resolutions after…

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Monday told the Federal High Court in Abuja that it stored over N3 billion loot recovered from the ex-Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr. Andrew Yakubu, in iron boxes. The anti-graft agency, which made the revelation at the resumed trial of the former NNPC boss on charges bordering on money laundering, said the boxes were also sealed with iron rods. Wole Soyinka It is happening all over again. History is repeating itself and, alas, within such an agonizingly short span of time. How often must we warn against the enervating lure of appeasement in face of aggression and will to dominate! I do not hesitate to draw attention to Volume III of my INTERVENTION series and to the chapter on The Unappeasable Price of Appeasement. There is little to add, but it does appear that even the tragically fulfilled warnings of the past leave no impression on leadership, not even when identical signs of impending cardiac arrest loom over the…
