Two Reverend Sisters were, Monday, remanded by The Children, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Court, Awka in Anambra State for illegal dealings and fraudulent adoption of children. The sisters: Angela Onyenachi Ibe, aged 42, and Mother-General, Reverend Sister Chiemelie Jacinta Yvonne, 41, were arraigned on a four-count charge of conspiracy, obtained by pretence, punishable under sections 495(a) and 386 of the Criminal Code, Cap 36, Volume II, the Revised Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria, 1991. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened a nationwide strike over failure of the Federal Government to reconstitute Governing Councils for Federal Universities. The union faulted what it described as the nonchalant attitude of the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to matters pertaining to academics in Nigerian Federal Universities. A 25-year-old man identified as Elisha has allegedly dismembered his girlfriend in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital. The suspect killed the girl said to be a nurse on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at about 7:00 a.m. at the suspect’s residence close to Beulah International Nursery and Primary Schools, Atiku Abubakar Way, Uyo.
