The retired school principal kidnapped in his home in Ikot Abasi Akpan, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Ezekiel Paul, has been released after a week in captivity. Paul was seized from his compound near the Community Civic Centre on Sunday by 7 a.m, while he was preparing to go for Mass at St. Pius X Parish. A total of 31 states and 148 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria are prone to flooding during this year’s rainy season, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has alerted. Consequently, NEMA has called on state governments in flood-prone areas to support its initiative of providing early flood warnings and implementing strategies to minimize risks and protect lives and livelihoods.
