The Nigerian Police Force is set to probe an incident in which a Chinese man allegedly tore Naira notes in front of government officials in Lagos State.

The action reportedly took place after officials sealed his business premises, a Chinese company opposite Eko Kate along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos, an X user Aina Dipo (@dipoaina1) tweeted.

The video making the rounds on social media shows the moment the Chinese man brought out the naira notes and tore it right in the presence of the officials.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, called on SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command to probe the incident.

Adejobi who was reacting to Aina’s tweet stressed the importance of addressing the matter, stating, “Benjamin Hundeyin and Nigerian Police investigate this and act.”

Aina’s tweet added, “Imagine a Chinese man tearing our Naira notes in front of government officials for sealing his premises, this matter must not be swept under the carpet.”

He further demanded immediate action, insisting, “The Chinese man must be arrested immediately!! No stories Nigeria Police.”

Recall that the Chinese based in Lagos State whose identity is yet to be ascertained was caught on camera tearing some Nigerian Naira notes believed to be N1000 notes.

According to a video of the incident, the Chinese national who was seen putting on only shorts suddenly pulled out the Naira notes from his pocket and tore them in front of some Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) officials.

An X user, @dammiedammie35, who posted the video had said that the incident happened on Wednesday in front of a sealed Chinese company located opposite Eko Kate along Lekki-Epe expressway in Lagos.

In the viral video, while the LASEPA officials rushed to arrest the Chinese citizen after tearing the Naira notes, many Nigerians believed to be workers in the sealed company quickly rose in defence of the Chinese national, pushing away the officials and attempting to mob them.

Meanwhile, the witness who recorded the video kept shouting, “He tear Nigerian money. The Chinese man tear Nigerian money. It is a disrespect to Nigeria. He has disrespected Nigeria
