The Presidency has spit fire on the decision of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to embark on a nationwide strike beginning from midnight of November 13, 2023. The special adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga saw the decision as an “ego tripping move” and an act of unwarranted blackmail against the government. The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria on Monday ordered their affiliates to withdraw their services nationwide from midnight on November 14, 2023. In a message in their X (formerly Twitter) signed on Monday, November 13, the General Secretary of NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja and General Secretary of TUC, Comrade Nuhu Toro directed all workers to withdraw their services and stay at home. ”While we shall update you as developments unfold, do remain assured of our commitment to Nigerian workers and people,” the statement stated. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state. As University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State convoked thousands, Governor Umo Eno has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the educational development of the state.
