The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has requested the World Bank to suspend issuance of loans to Nigeria’s 36 states over allegations of mismanaging public funds. A former Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chief Nduese Essien, has admitted that Nigeria is not practising the presidential Western form of democracy, but a modified version of democracy. Essien, a two-time member, House of Representatives, speaking this on Sunday while reacting to a statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, noted that the Western-style democracy being practised by Nigeria is not working for the country and in Africa. Seplat Energy Plc is certain that the federal government would approve its acquisition of ExxonMobil’s assets. The company is a leading Nigerian independent energy company listed on both the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the London Stock Exchange. Akwa Ibom State Government has sought the partnership of the Ministry of Aviation for continuous development and expansion of Ibom Air, the state-owned airline.
