Nigerian public universities are to resume academic activities following conditional suspension of an eight-month-old strike by Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), a member of the union’s National Executive Committee told Channels TV on Friday. The union decided to suspend the strike during a meeting of its leadership that started on Thursday night and lasted into the early hours of Friday. Massive jubilations greeted the Nigeria’s South East states as the Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday upheld the appeal and freed the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. More than 500 Nigerians died and 1,411,051 affected by the recent flood disasters across Nigeria, according to the Federal Government. Giving updates on the recent flood incidents, Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, stated this in Abuja Tuesday. Amidst tears by mourners, the remains of seven family members who died in a mysterious house fire were buried in Kenya on Tuesday, October 11. The incident occurred at Gichiche sub-county, Runyenjes, in Embu county in the early hours of Sunday, October 2, 2022.
