The fishing Upenekang in Akwa Ibom is among the 31 communities in Nigeria gripped by fear of heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding from July 4 – 8, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) alerted. A statement signed by Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Territorial Coordinator, NEMA, Lagos Territorial Office also listed 14 states among the victims of foreseeable flooding. Farinloye urged relevant stakeholders within the states concerned to take precautionary measures to forestall the loss of lives and property. Akwa Ibom government used N200 million to resuscitate the ailing Akwa Palms Estate now rebranded Dakkada Global Oil Palm Limited, Governor Umo Eno said. The estate founded in is covering is hosted by six communities in Esit Eket, Urueffong Oruko and Mbo Local Government Areas of the state. The six villages are Etebi Idung Asan, Etebi Akwa Ata, Unyanga, Udung Uko, Ntak Inyang and Orukem. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially withdrawn the UTME result of Anambra student, Joy Ejikeme Mmesoma and banned her from writing the examination for three years. JAMB said it has banned Mmesoma who was accused of forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result from taking the board’s examinations for three years. The principal of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, in Anambra State where Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme, was alleged to have forged her JAMB score to emerge as the highest scorer, has said the school is surprised at the announcement. Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to spend N400 billion savings on Nigerians bearing the brunt of fuel removal. Media reports have it that the Federal Government has saved N400 billion within the four weeks following the implementation of the policy on the removal of payment of subsidy on petrol.
