Terror reigns supreme in Nigeria’s South East region following the declaration of a one-week sit-at-home order by members of the dreaded Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). House of Representatives has moved to stop ceding Danare and Biajua communities in Boki local government area of Cross River State through Pillar 113A to the Republic of Cameroon. The woman who allegedly killed after setting a female police officer and her two children ablaze in Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State has admitted guilt. Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has directed Ibom Power Company management to submit a comprehensive audit report to enable him to tackle its challenges for improved power generation and distribution in the state. Ibom Power is a state government-owned gas fired power plant that was licensed on May 12, 2008 by Nigerian Regulatory Commission to operate a 190megawatts plant. The new licence empowers the state government to increase its electricity generation capacity from the previous 190MW to 685 MW to accommodate both the 191 MW Phase 1 and the proposed 500 MW Phase 2. The fishing Upenekang in Akwa Ibom is among the 31 communities in Nigeria gripped by fear of heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding from July 4 – 8, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) alerted. A statement signed by Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Territorial Coordinator, NEMA, Lagos Territorial Office also listed 14 states among the victims of foreseeable flooding.
